We have a fabulous new lab space for participants at La Trobe University, in AgriBio, the Centre for AgriBioscience

AgriBio, The Centre For AgriBioscience is a joint initiative of the Government of Victoria,through the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources and Primary Industries (DEPI), and La Trobe University.

AgriBio is one of Australia's premier biosciences facilities, with a key emphasis on supporting and protecting Victoria's A$11.6 billion agricultural sector by focussing on cutting-edge research to;

 improve productivity; fight disease and reduce environmental impact.


 We will be doing a tour of the building and the new lab at the Biology Teacher’s Conference in February, 2015 so be sure to secure your place!

April 2014 - 
January 2014 - 

"Science Experience" for 75 South Australian High School students and 10 University Mentors was conducted at the The University of Adelaide on January 15th ,2014. The students enjoyed a range of hands on activities, including Get into Genes and other engineering, maths science  and computer science activities. Three students attending the Get into Genes activity  appeared as a feature article in the South Australian newspaper, "the Advertiser".

November 2013 - 

During 2013 the GiG team refreshed the Year 12 workshop based on teacher suggestions and current research. It was trialed in Victoria with teachers, educators and students and receieved great reviews!! This will be fine-tuned for delivery in 2014

Get into Genes is a FREE, hands-on, curriculum-linked workshop for secondary school students that highlights the application of biotechnology to food production. 

It is with sadness that we advise today, Thursday 25 September 2014, Get into Genes will close in South Australia.

The program continues unchanged in Victoria.

We wish to thank the teachers and students of South Australia for their strong support of Get into Genes since 2004.
