Welcome to Get into Genes

Get into Genes is an interactive education program
for secondary school students that highlights the application of biotechnology to crop improvement.
It provides students with an insight into the relationship between molecular biology, genetics and plant breeding.

• BOOKINGS ARE OPEN FOR 2009! 

• In August 2008 Get into Genes moved into its new lab space in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology at La Trobe University.  See here for details.

• Get into Genes has now reached over 5000 students since starting in Adelaide in 2004.

• In Victoria Get into Genes has reached over 1800 students and 150 teachers since 2006.

• Get into Genes has received the Excellence in Innovation in Education and Training and Public Outreach Activities Award from The CRC Association.

• New workstations on PCR are now available!

• Staff from Get into Genes shared science stories with teachers from across Australia at the Conference of the Australian Science Teachers Association in July 2008.
